in case anyone is wondering...
i havent made any new headbands lately,...
but then again i had big things ringing in my head: im getting married this year!
oh my...
eh, plus the remaining of the pheasant & peacock feathers have not arrived from NYC...
but yeah,...
marriage... wow...
maybe ill make a cool headpiece for me, though i doubt it, itll probably be a farily standard konde (hair bun) with farily standard kembang goyang (bobbing hair picks) and jasmine flowers...
and i hope ill get to make useful invitations (read invitations that doubles as picture frames perchance? or laminated so they double as coasters?)...

Lately its been busy...

Im sorry that i havent posted new head bands lately, life has been rather hectic...
but i did take time yesterday to make a veiled bando using the russian net i got from ebay...
i'll try to make more soon...
oh, and i decided that these hairbands will all be one-off ...

New stuff...

oh, so my cousin sent me my new batch of feathers...
unfortunately, my aunt was not able to bring me my pheasant feathers, but she did bring a whole batch of peacock! so i went straight and made myself a u-band headband with it...


anyway the lack of pheasant feathers means i will not be able to make large & medium pads until the end of the month. i will continue to make comb fascinators, peacock u-bands & long pads tho...

i also attempted to make a large pad u-band with a space to attach flowers, brooches or whatever seems fancy at the time...


while at work i kept idleness at bay by making fabric-scrap roses, in raw silk, satin & tulle...

i suppose ill get around to pasting it to some fascinators or bands...

Headbands! more coming, promise...

i will devote my weekend to bring you more one-off feathery or funky headbands...

New Headbands at The End of 2008

I made new headbands for the end of the year. mostly by popular request of the girls at fashionese daily...
if you're interested, email me at adinala@gmail.com, ill sell it to you (assuming its still avialable)... all items are one-off, that is, they are special an unique each one, no two are the same...
the damage (for everything but the comb fascinators) is Rp80k... peacock headbands & fascinator combs are 150k
unfortunately, only available for friends in Jakarta, Indonesia (although i have to admit, if you ask very very very nicely, and the cost of shipping is less than the cost of delivery, i might just send it to your door step heeheehee)...

Breathing New Life To Old Tanktops As Shopping Bags...

every now and then everyone has to clean out their closets, and edit them. I have a mound of old tank tops that i cant wear because either they are now too small (yes, i've gained weight) or streched out/splotched/etc. i couldnt donate them, because who wants a stretchouts splotchy tank top? i didnt feel right throwing them away, nor did i feel like they were in such condition to be cut up to be used as dishrags yet.
i was surfing apartment therapy & instructibles, with all their great ideas... and i decided to turn the tops into reuseable grocery bags. easy to do: the arm holes are ready to be used as handles, and all you really need to do is just to sew the bottom opening... so... TADAAAA! a have a stack to use when i go grocery shopping (reduce plastic useage!) and they also work as lunch & emergency bags. nifty!


well... once they are falling apart even more, maybe then ill use it as a dishrag...

Feathery Headbands Massive... @ Fashionese Daily Gathering...

so the other day i met up with friends from Fashionese Daily forum at a gathering in Ke'Kun, Kemang... my bestfriend of uncountable years suggested that i should go ahead and sell my headbands to the girls there, so i spent saturday shopping at mayestik and then till 3am working on the feathers. i didnt have energy that night to finish the sewing part, so i decided to do that in the morning. when i got up i only had energy to do 3 headbands before i head to get my self together to go the the gathering. well, still i brought the unfinished pieces with me, just in case i have a chance to work on them...
apparently they loved it! i was so happy, and i sewed more than a few pieces on the spot for them...

The Feathers Moved To A Hat

just made a few more feather pieces, but stuck them to a hat this time. matched the feathers to the hat, cute tiny brown black feathers.....

A Feathered Headband

made this one day at work, inspired by a headband i saw in Lucky Magazine
bought all the materials at Mayestik, Jakarta, Indonesia...



all i needed was 25cm of feather strips (sold sewed/glued to a strip of ribbon), glue, felt, ribbon, black elastic, some thread, and a needle plus scissors... and also a little free time at the office...
i have since made 4 more for friends & cousins...
